Hello David,
The issues at the private flats have not been resolved as you will probably know.It is a disgrace that people have to live in less than poor conditions.I know you have been involved in the hope that there would be improvement and appreciate your concern.The building adjacent to the Dental Surgery is still cause for concern for the business and for ourselves.Obviously the owner can afford to leave the building in such a neglected state,but businesses and local people are fed up with the graffiti and vandalism.I wonder how much can be done to persuade the two landlords to spend the money needed?

Hello David,we are disappointed that,following a promising visit by the owner of the derelict building in July,there has not been any advance on the securing of the building.The little that was done has only served to encourage more vandalism and graffiti.
The issues at the private flats, which we have discussed,have not been resolved for the tenants, even though a 3 month enforcement order on the landlord is now up.

Hello Ian. Thank you for your comments. As you know, I argued for a mixture of public and private, and on the night the results of the vote were as follows:

- 16 for mutualisation
- 2 for privatisation
- 17 for nationalisation

So if you take the first 2 results together, I think that goes some way to explaining why people thought I made a persuasive argument.

But of course, it is possible to state that someone made a persuasive argument without actually agreeing with them…

Hello David,
In response to your information concerning Council interest in the derelict building on Firbeck,I am pleasd to note that an enforcement order to clean off graffiti and make the building safe has been placed on the owner,Iy remains to be seen if he concurs.Thank you for the time you have spent on behalf of the residents and businesses here to attempt to have this problem resolved.

Many thanks for your interest in the problems of graffiti and a derelict building on Firbeck.We appreciate the efforts you have made by contacting the Council to have graffiti removed and your concern about the privately owned “untidy site”I am pleased to read on your report that the owner is prepared to clean up the site and hope that this work will take place very soon.We are still facing a very uncertain future and are represented by ,and are working with ,Skelmersdale Labour Group,to secure a solution to our opposition to plans for demolition of our homes.In the meantime we intend to care for our environment and, by doing that,show the pride we have for our homes and estate.We are pleased that people are willing to assist us ,in any way they can,to achieve our aims,be it keeping the area tidy or,most importantly saving our homes.Many thanks,Hazel
